Date

Rallies are held on the first Sunday of every month. (Usually the second Sunday in January). You will be informed via email and/or the Members’ only Facebook page when booking for the next rally is open.

Booking In

Booking for a rally is via Event Secretary under the “Events and Membership” tab, then “Club Rallies and Membership” using the login you used to sign up for your membership.

Format

We offer lessons each month in dressage, jumping and 3PE, as well as one cross country rally per year. The standard format is hour lessons in groups of four riders. There is also an option to request an hour long semi-private lesson with two riders (if there are no other riders wanting semi-private, you will be placed into a group of four).

Occasionally an instructor will request a different lesson format. You will be informed of any differences when the rally bookings open, and costs will be adjusted accordingly.

Rallies generally run from approximately 9am – 3pm in winter, and may start at 8am in summer on particularly hot days.

Instructors

We try to source a wide range of instructors in all three disciplines. Our aim is to book the same instructors for two months running, to allow for some practice, follow through, and feedback. However this is not always possible due to instructor’s other commitments.

We understand that many people have their own regular instructors, but we encourage everyone to attend rallies whenever they can. We can always take away something new from a different instructor, and attending rallies is a great way to meet other members and create an active and vibrant club atmosphere.

Cost

The committee aims to keep rally costs as low as possible, to provide those who don’t have regular instruction an affordable alternative, and to allow people to have a go at new disciplines without spending a fortune. We do not attempt to make any profit on rallies, only to break even over the year.

Usually, the lessons cost:

  • A one hour lessons in a group of four riders is $27

  • A one hour semi-private lesson (two riders) is $54

However, an instructor may request a shorter lesson with fewer riders, for example a 45 minute lesson with three riders, or occasionally lesson costs may be increased based on the rate of the instructor.

First Aid

On rally days, a list of members with First Aid qualifications will be posted outside the office along with the rally draw. In case of a serious accident, if there are no members present with First Aid qualifications, please call 000. Remember to fill out an incident report if someone has a fall from their horse. For further information, refer to the Safety section of the Rules & Policies page.
