Using the grounds

As a member of YRC, you have access to all the club grounds. Please be aware that members of the public may also use some areas of our grounds – the wash bays, holding yards and unfenced sand arena.

As we are a large club, there can sometimes be many people wanting to use the arena. In addition, HRCAV introduced a requirement that we monitor use of the club grounds. In response to this, we now use a booking system called Skedda. As a YRC member, you are entitled to a Skedda login – please email yackandandahrc@gmail.com if you have not received your Skedda invitation.

Member only access

It is a requirement that ONLY YRC members use the Club facilities. This includes the locked main arena, round yard, toilets and any Club equipment. All show jumping equipment must be left inside the locked arena. So if you come down to ride with a non-member friend, they will need to stick to the unfenced arena.

You will have been provided with the padlock code (the same for all locks) when your membership was confirmed. Please DO NOT share that code with anyone else, including instructors or people you believe to be members. If anyone has forgotten the code they must email the club at yackandandahrc@gmail.com or contact a committee member directly via mobile phone or Facebook messenger. The committee will verify their membership status before providing the code.

Please ensure that everything is locked again when you leave.

Poo

It’s simple. Please pick it up! Don’t throw it under the trees. There is a poo cart and shovel and poo dumping area behind the wash bays. Please ensure all manure ends up there.

Parking

There are no specific parking areas within the grounds, but some obvious common sense guides exist:

  • Don’t park on the sand arenas

  • Don’t park in areas that are wet and boggy

  • Be careful that your float can fit in under the trees

On rally days, we don’t park down beyond the far end of the main arena. This is a warm up area (in addition to the unfenced sand).

During particularly wet periods you may be asked not to park in the grounds due to the damage it causes. This will be advised on Facebook and alternate arrangements will be suggested. On very wet rally days you may be asked to park in the “Gravel Pit”. This is the area beyond our grounds at the far end of the main arena. Access is via the dirt road you drive in on – continue past our club gates and it’s the next gate on the right. The gravel pit is not actually gravel, but does have a solid gravel base that makes it accessible even in very wet weather. The area is fenced, but there are no water or toilet facilities. You can walk through to the club from within the gravel pit, you do not have to go back along the road. You will be notified on Facebook and with the rally schedule if you need to park in the gravel pit.

Problems, Damage etc.

If you notice any problems at the club – broken equipment, leaking taps, sticking locks etc., or you break something (horses can be stupid and accidents happen), please let us know immediately. You can do this via email (yackandandahrc@gmail.com), the members’ only Facebook page or by contacting a committee member directly.

Dogs

The Yackandandah Sports Park is a designated off-leash area. However, dogs must be restrained when an equestrian event is in progress.

The YRC has a “no dogs” policy during rallies, in-house/open competitions, and training days to ensure the safety of horses, their riders and the public.
